Injections

Injections are offered for a variety of inflammatory and degenerative conditions of joints (arthritis), tendons (tendonitis) and bursa (bursitis) when patients have failed to respond to conservative therapy that may include but not be limited to acetaminophen, topical or oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs ( NSAIDs), other topical therapies and physical therapy. Degenerative arthritis (osteoarthritis) involving the knees may respond to injections of corticosteroids and/or hyaluronate (viscosupplementation). Inflammatory arthritis, bursitis and tendonitis may respond to directed corticosteroid injections. Your provider will review these options with you if you are having on going difficulties that might be amenable to local injection.
